On Wednesday, 15 July 2020, at night at around 1:00, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 254.70), a BMW 320I ran off the road. One person was injured — a 16-year-old passenger of the BMW (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of the BMW (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
