On Sunday, 9 August 2020, in the evening at 21:50, in Akmenės district municipality, on the Kuršėnai–Mažeikiai national road (kilometre 28), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Ford Galaxy and a BMW X5 3.0D registered in Norway. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Ford, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (2.40‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
