On Monday, 7 September 2020, in the morning at 9:03, in Trakų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 20.95), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Renault, a car, a Seat Leon and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people were injured — a 55-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient) and the 23-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Renault (30 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
