On Monday, 28 September 2020, in the afternoon at 13:13, in Kaunas, on Ateities pl. near No. 36, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a Volkswagen Passat. Two people died — a 75-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (later died from the injuries) and the 79-year-old driver of the Volkswagen. One person was injured — a 50-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober.
