On Monday, 12 October 2020, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 19), a Skoda Fabia ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of the Skoda (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.61‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
