On Wednesday, 14 October 2020, in the evening at 20:15, in Šilalės district municipality, Tūjainių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 216), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 registered in Germany, a Mercedes-Benz CLK 320 CDI and a trailer/semi-trailer > 10 t. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 74-year-old driver of the Audi (32 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
