On Friday, 9 October 2020, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Panevėžys, on Sporto street, at the junction with J. Vaitiekūno street, a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Seat Leon and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 13-year-old cyclist (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Seat (22 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
