On Wednesday, 21 October 2020, in the evening at 18:45, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 32.80), a Scania R420 registered in Latvia hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Scania (36 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
