On Sunday, 8 November 2020, at night at around 2:00, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 17.10), a Mitsubishi Carisma ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
