On Sunday, 31 January 2021, in the evening at 21:40, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 44.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Scania PM, a Krone SD, a DAF FT XF 105.460T and a Schmitz Cargobull S.CS24-13.62. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 65-year-old driver of the Scania (45 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
