On Sunday, 21 March 2021, in the evening at 18:30, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 22.41), a Citroen Xsara Picasso hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Citroen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.21‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
