On Monday, 9 August 2021, in the morning at 10:42, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 20.10), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a Skoda, a Toyota, a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Skoda Octavia. Four people were injured — the 33-year-old driver of the Skoda (hospitalized), a 37-year-old passenger of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient), a 4-year-old passenger of the Skoda (treated as an outpatient) and the 42-year-old driver of the Toyota (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Skoda (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
