On Sunday, 29 August 2021, in the evening at 20:59, in Šiaulių district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 42.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Volkswagen Golf. One person died — the 20-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (later died from the injuries).
