On Friday, 10 September 2021, in the evening at 18:10, in Prienų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Prienai–Alytus national road (kilometre 28.58), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Polo registered in Denmark and an Audi Q7. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (10 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (3.10‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
