On Monday, 20 September 2021, in the morning at 6:15, in Zarasų district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis main road (kilometre 167), a Volvo FH ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Volvo (38 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.55‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
