On Saturday, 9 October 2021, in the morning at 10:20, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 16), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo XC90 and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volvo (18 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
