On Friday, 29 October 2021, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Kelmės district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road (kilometre 91.45), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Fiat Ducato, an Iveco AS440S43, a Langendorf SKA24/29, a Renault Premium 420.19 and a Schmitz SCS 24/L. Two people died — the 33-year-old driver of the Renault and the 68-year-old driver of the Iveco. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
