On Saturday, 1 January 2022, in the morning at around 9:00, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, Norvydų village, on the Žirgėnai–Pavištytis–Kregždžiai regional road (kilometre 5.90), a GAZ 53-12 ran off the road. One person was injured — a 43-year-old passenger of the GAZ (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the GAZ (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
