On Sunday, 30 January 2022, in the evening at 20:57, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 253.70), a Volvo S60 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volvo (12 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 110 km/h.
