On Monday, 7 February 2022, in the evening at 18:06, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Skaistgirys–Jurdaičiai–Jankūnai regional road (kilometre 1), a Volkswagen Caravelle hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 65-year-old pedestrian (later died from the injuries). The accident was caused by the 45-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (11 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. The driver was sober.
