On Tuesday, 8 February 2022, in the afternoon at 12:30, in Klaipėda, on Debreceno street near No. 36, a BMW 5ER Reihe registered in Germany hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 87-year-old pedestrian (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 81-year-old driver of the BMW (20 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
