On Friday, 18 February 2022, in the morning at 8:54, in Biržų district municipality, Gaižiūnų village, on Saulėtekio street near No. 13, a Volkswagen Caravelle hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.51‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
