On Tuesday, 8 March 2022, at night at around 23:00, in Ignalinos district municipality, on the Naujasis Daugėliškis–Taujūnai–Mažėnai–Rimšė regional road (kilometre 11.43), a BMW 320 hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
