On Friday, 11 March 2022, in the evening at 18:25, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 20.20), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 406 and a Skoda Octavia. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
