On Friday, 24 June 2022, in the morning at around 7:00, in Šilutės district municipality, Šlažų village, on the Šilutė–Rusnė national road (kilometre 2), a BMW 318i ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (0.99‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
