On Tuesday, 19 July 2022, in the afternoon at 11:28, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Marijampolė–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 4.65), a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 and a Renault Laguna. Three people were injured — a 47-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized), the 36-year-old driver of the Renault (hospitalized) and a 9-year-old passenger of the Renault (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Audi (30 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober.
