On Wednesday, 12 October 2022, at night at 23:30, in Šilutės district municipality, Vilkmedžių village, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 202), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Subaru Forester and a car. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Subaru, who failed to keep a safe distance. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
