On Monday, 13 March 2023, in the morning at around 8:00, in Utenos district municipality, on Vaižganto street near No. 17, a vehicle hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of a vehicle (12 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
