On Thursday, 29 June 2023, at night at around 0:00, in Akmenės district municipality, Kinkių I village, on the Kruopiai–Klaišiai–Šemetaičiai regional road (kilometre 9.80), a Volkswagen Caddy registered in Finland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.41‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
