On Thursday, 13 July 2023, in the afternoon at around 15:00, in Šilalės district municipality, Vingininkų village, on the Mažeikiai–Plungė–Tauragė national road (kilometre 116.80), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Ford Galaxy and a Nissan QASHQAI+2. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Ford, who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.10‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
