On Saturday, 15 July 2023, at night at around 23:00, in Tauragės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street, at the junction with Ramioji street, an Opel Astra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Opel (15 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
