On Monday, 25 September 2023, in the evening at around 17:00, in Varėnos district municipality, Valkininkų town, on Krantinės street near No. 5, a e-scooter hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 3-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of a e-scooter, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
