On Sunday, 8 October 2023, in the afternoon at 12:42, in Kretingos district municipality, on the Darbėnai–Grūšlaukė regional road (kilometre 6.18), a Chevrolet Captiva ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 49-year-old driver of the Chevrolet (25 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.66‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
