On Wednesday, 13 December 2023, in the evening at 18:40, in Alytaus district municipality, Papėčių village, on Piliakalnio street near No. 38, a Daewoo Lanos ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 47-year-old driver of the Daewoo, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
