On Tuesday, 9 January 2024, at night at 1:50, in Šiaulių district municipality, Verbūnų village, on Varčiulių street, at the junction with Radvilų street, a Mazda ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Mazda (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.05‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
