On Thursday, 1 February 2024, in the afternoon at around 13:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Maišelių village, on Maišelių street near No. 4, a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a vehicle and a Peugeot 406. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 55-year-old driver of a vehicle (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.21‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
