On Saturday, 3 February 2024, at night at 23:52, in Mažeikių district municipality, Žemalės village, on Dionizo Poškos street, at the junction with Parko street, an Audi A6 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
