On Saturday, 24 February 2024, at night at 23:45, in Kaunas, on Karaliaus Mindaugo pr. near No. 49, at the junction with A. Mickevičiaus street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Phaeton and a Volvo. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (15 years of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
