On Sunday, 17 March 2024, in the evening at 19:30, in Klaipėda, on Upelio street near No. 27, a BMW hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 23-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the BMW (7 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 20 km/h.
