On Sunday, 18 August 2024, in the evening at 17:15, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 100), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a BMW X5, a Skoda Octavia, an Audi, a car and a Skoda Superb. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the BMW (25 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
