On Monday, 16 December 2024, at night at around 2:00, in Alytaus district municipality, Norūnų village, on Saulėtekio street, a Honda Civic ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 35-year-old driver of the Honda (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
