On Thursday, 26 December 2024, at night at 3:58, in Akmenės district municipality, Laumėnų II village, on the Kruopiai–Jautmalkiai regional road (kilometre 3.83), a Land Rover Range Rover Sport ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Land Rover, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 30 km/h.
