On Tuesday, 31 December 2024, in the evening at around 18:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 10.23), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Skoda. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (11 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober.
