On Saturday, 5 January 2013, at night at 2:55, in Kaunas, on Gimnazijos street, a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 23-year-old driver of the Audi (5 years of driving experience), who failed to comply with road signs or markings, committed other traffic rule violations, failed to give way when changing direction and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
