Volkswagen Sharan and two other cars crash on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda road
On Monday, 24 December 2012, in the afternoon at 14:45, in Kaišiadorių district municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 81.29), a Volkswagen Sharan ran off the road. The collision involved the Volkswagen Sharan, a Volkswagen Jetta and a BMW 520. One person was injured — a 73-year-old passenger of the Volkswagen Jetta (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 29-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Sharan (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident there was a blizzard, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
