On Sunday, 6 January 2013, in the morning at 5:19, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (k. pusė) main road (kilometre 56), an Iveco AS440S43 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Iveco (10 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and fell asleep at the wheel. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
