On Thursday, 10 January 2013, in the evening at 19:21, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Ąžuolų Būda–Kazlų Rūda national road (kilometre 3.20), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Seat Toledo and an Audi A6. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 39-year-old driver of the Seat, who failed to choose a safe speed. She had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
