On Friday, 11 January 2013, in the morning at 7:18, in Šakių district municipality, Pajotijo village, on the Pajotijai–Gelgaudiškis regional road (kilometre 4.92), a Peugeot 406 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — a 52-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 36-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by a 52-year-old pedestrian, who committed sudden emergence from behind a vehicle, tree, etc. and was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was snowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
