On Sunday, 23 December 2012, in the morning at 9:40, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai national road (kilometre 11.95), a Toyota Avensis ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 17-year-old driver of the Toyota (less than a year of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
