On Friday, 21 September 2012, in the morning at 10:30, in Anykščių district municipality, on the Burbiškis–Mačionys–Leliūnai regional road (kilometre 7.80), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Citroen Xantia and a bicycle. One person was injured — a 15-year-old cyclist (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 33-year-old driver of the Citroen, who failed to choose a safe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.74‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
